Largest Technical Ceramics Manufacturer Bangalore

Silicon Carbide based Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbides (NBSIC) are used for their good thermal, mechanical and wear resistance attributes. Although heating at high temperature and pressure can produce sintered pure silicon carbide, the process commercially viable. High-density silicon carbide materials are produced by introducing a bonding aid that produces a secondary phase. The thermomechanical properties are then often limited by the properties of the secondary bond. For example, the maximum operating temperature of Silicon Impregnated SiC (SISC/RBSIC) Bonded Silicon Carbide is 1375°C, the melting point of silicon.    Production

Silcarb manufactures its NBSIC in a very controlled electric furnace where temperatures are very accurately maintained and pressures are regulated through the cycle. Silcarb has a battery of furnaces in its Bangalore plant which manufactures a number of shapes, sizes, profiles of nitride bonded silicon carbide.

Silcarb manufactures these Kiln Furniture by a number of forming processes..

Slip casting
Extruding
Uni Axial Pressing
Isostatic Pressing
The required forming process is adapted for specific products.

Key Properties
The properties of nitrogen bonded silicon carbide suit many harsh service conditions:
Good wear resistance
Good abrasive resistance
High load carrying capacities up to 1650 degrees c. Load-carrying capacities at elevated temperatures far outperform other oxide bonded silicon carbide products.
High Thermal shock resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity. NBSIC can thus go through a number of thermal cycles without deforming, cracking etc
Good chemical resistance acids, molten salts and halogens. NBSIC may be attacked by oxidising agents and strong bases such as iron oxide and sodium hydroxide.
NBSIC can be used for molten metal contact without any wettability
At elevated temperatures, NBSIC is a semiconductor
Silcarb makes its NBSIC in various percentages of silicon. The lowest percentage of being 10% going all the way up to 38% silicon with additions of aluminium oxides for molten metal applications.

Applications
Exploiting the material’s excellent stability and mechanical strength, nitrogen bonded silicon carbide bricks are used in a range of process furnaces and kilns such as the sidewalls of aluminium melting pots, the lower stack of blast furnaces, and as kiln furniture.

Cast Refractories
Nitrogen bonded silicon carbide is commonly found as a cast refractory for use under severe service conditions in place of alloys or other refractory materials. Near net shapes can be designed to reproduce the metal parts. The high hardness and abrasion resistance of the material means that components should be designed to avoid grinding or other finishing operations.

Applications of cast refractories exploit the physical and chemical properties of the material and the ability to form the material into complex shapes.

Uses include:
Cyclone liners for abrasion resistance used in minerals plants, coal plants and in chemical and paper industries.
Slurry pump parts for mineral processing and abrasive chemical industries.
Coal burner, exhaust for use in the power plants
Corrosion-resistant components for chemical plant.
Pump components, piping liners, valve liners, spigots and nozzles.
Non-ferrous metal contact applications
Kiln furniture for high temperate applications

Choose the leader in quality furnace manufacturing.

Our engineers are innovators in furnace design

We design and supply heat treatment products that meet the strict metallurgical properties requirements of industrial manufacturing companies all over the world. Our Bangalore fabrication facility is committed to exceeding customer expectations in furnace reliability and performance. We have been manufacturing industrial level furnaces for 40+ years in Bangalore India.

Silcarb Furnaces for Titanium cover a broad group of heat treatment disciplines, including:

Solution Heat Treatment
Aging (Precipitation Hardening)
Annealing
Forging preheat Furnaces
Silcarb has experience in all types of these furnaces. Our ability to automate these furnaces for loading and unloading will aid in greater productivity or quality for your manufacturing facility. If you are loading and retrieving Titanium blooms for forging, Silcarb engineers will work with you to automate this process. If fork trucks are used with heavy blooms then Silcarb will assure that rugged bumpers, alloy piers and refractories are applied.

Gantry furnaces or cranes allow Silcarb to move the furnace or the product load fixture to allow smooth automation for loading or quenching.

Quenching Options
These furnaces can be fitted with a variety of quenching options including:

Water
% synthetics to water automatically controlled
Spray quench either direct or progressive
Air and water mix
Valuable Titanium parts need excellent control for quench timing, temperature uniformity, and atmosphere assurance. Silcarb can offer sophisticated control systems that can document the above-mentioned production parameters with each part processed in the Silcarb heat treatment furnace system.

Please call Silcarb today and see if you agree that we are "innovative to the core". Our goal is to make innovation pay off for you in all your heat processing applications. Silcarb manufactures high-end Silicon Nitride products for foundry applications.

We buy high-quality Silicon Nitride powders form the best possible sources. Silicon nitride is almost as light as silicon carbide (SiC). It has high wear resistance along with high temperature and high corrosion resistance at a low specific weight. The presence of micro-structure gives them exceptional thermal shock resistance and their high fracture toughness makes them resistant to impact and shocks. This high strength is a result of the high energy and covalent bonding structure of the material which maintains its strength even at high temperatures. Silicon nitride exhibits excellent tribological properties and is also used in wear applications. This makes Silicon nitride suitable for high-temperature applications.
The silicon nitride powder is mixed with oxidic sinter additives. They are then processed with normal ceramic shaping methods and are sintered at 1800 to 1900°C. All of this happens in a nitrogen atmosphere and at pressures of up to 100 bar. We ourselves have an in-house spray dryer/ freeze drier where we prepare our powders with binders etc. varying component shapes can be made using normal ceramic shaping method. All Silicon Nitride products that silcarb manufactures are isostatically pressed. These are then dried and fired in our state-of-the-art sintering furnaces to temperatures of 1800°C. We manufacture Thermocouple Tubes, Immersion Heater Tubes for Molten Aluminium as well as Molten Zinc and Molten Copper, Low-Pressure Stalk Tubes (LPDC Stalk tubes), Riser tubes, Dosing tubes degassing rotors, Molten metal transfer cups, launders, etc.
In order to achieve very tight tolerances, fully sintered material must be machined with diamond tools. This processing of the sintered components requires a very precise diamond-coated tool to obtain the desired shape.
The silicon nitride ceramics are available in different product forms and can be customized to different standard sizes and geometries to suit a variety of applications. Contact us for any further details.
